Athletic Training Costs and Financial Aid

Expenses

Western Carolina is recognized as one of the best buys among state schools. Tuition and other fees are explained through the registrar’s and financial aid offices.

During the sophomore, junior and senior years, majors in athletic training must bear additional expenses beyond those required for all Western Carolina University students. Students must purchase uniforms, professional liability insurance, additional vaccinations, and textbooks.

These estimated expenses are: uniforms, $200; additional vaccines, $100; insurance, $50; books, $1000. In addition, students are expected to furnish their own transportation to and from the sites of clinical experience.

Financial Aid & Scholarships

Loans, scholarships, and other financial aid may be available to qualifying students in the specific health disciplines. Awards are made on the basis of need, academic promise, and personal qualifications. For complete information, contact the WCU Financial Aid Office.

Additional scholarships are available through professional organizations related to athletic training, including the National Athletic Trainers' Association, The Mid-Atlantic Athletic Trainers' Association, the North Carolina Athletic Trainers' Association, and several Western North Carolina Sports Medicine Facilities.
