About the SAE Program
Dr. Jon Snover and studentDo you want to see good scientific ideas become a reality? Do you want to be involved in the process of converting technical ideas into patents, products, or businesses? This program empowers you, the scientist or innovator, to pursue your ideas.

How do you know if your idea has value? Has anyone else done it? Do you sell an idea or start a business? You will go through the process of answering these questions during your studies in this program.

Admissions Criteria

  • A bachelor’s degree in science from an accredited college or university
  • A minimum grade point average of 3.0 or better
  • GRE scores of 400 or better on each of the three sections of the general exam

Curriculum

This 36-credit-hour M.S. program will have a three-part curriculum covering your scientific area of interest, technical innovation and opportunity, and integrated business skills taught by entrepreneurs in the nationally recognized entrepreneurship program. Graduate courses are available in chemistry, biology, biotechnology, environmental science and engineering.

Technical Internship

You also will complete a technical internship, which could include work at a company or a partnering with faculty or business on a technical project. This experience will serve as the basis for an original technical idea, which you will then refine towards degree completion.

Capstone Project

The Capstone Project will be the culmination of your research of technical feasibility, market analysis, and business plan development. You will leave the program having executed the steps required to take a technical idea from early-stage development to business launch.
