Who am I?
I grew up in Gastonia, N.C., one of the Piedmont’s historic mill towns. I came out to the mountains to study at Western in 2001, where I earned the bachelor’s degree in English literature in 2005. After working a bit in nearby Sylva, N.C., I was thrilled with the opportunity to join the Western Admission Team. I plan to pursue my education by studying creative writing at the master’s level.
Why Western?
Have you ever had the experience of stepping into a place and feeling right away that you’re at home? That’s how I felt when I first came to Western. With its beautiful mountain location and the incredible people who teach and study here, I knew I’d found my “perfect fit.” The small classes gave me the one-on-one attention I wanted; I really got to know my classmates and my professors. It’s rare to find a mid-size university with a concentration of such a dedicated and qualified faculty. By bringing their real-life experiences in their academic fields to the classroom, the subjects really come alive. I encourage everyone to visit campus and see just what an incredible place this is!
