Who am I?
I came to Western from the suburbs of Atlanta. After earning my degree in Recreational Therapy, I jumped when I had the chance to return to the mountains to work at my alma mater two years later. I have worked in the Admission Office for almost 11 years now and I can’t believe how quickly the time has gone by. When I’m not at work, you might find me running, hiking, or cross country skiing in our beautiful mountains.
Why Western?
It’s been said that Western is one of the nation’s hidden gems. I had never heard of Western until my mom mentioned it. In fact, I wasn’t even interested in going to visit, but as soon as we drove through Catamount Gap and I saw the campus tucked into the mountains, I knew it was the place for me. I really wanted a campus that was a community in and of itself where I could feel comfortable and not get lost. I also had no idea what I wanted to study and Western had lots of majors from which I could choose. All of my professors knew me when I was a student and even during my freshman year, I had opportunities for leadership positions within the residence halls. I got so involved in campus activities from the day I arrived, I hardly ever went home! I genuinely believe in the educational experience that is waiting for students at Western and am so thankful I have the opportunity so share this information with so many people.
