Policies and Procedures
    Sportsmanship
    1. The sportsmanship rating system is intended to be an objective scale by which each team's attitude and behavior can be assessed throughout the intramural sports leagues and playoff seasons. Behavior before, during, and after an intramural sport contest is included in the rating. The team manager is responsible for educating and informing all players and spectator's affiliated about the system. To encourage acceptable conduct, before, during, and after intramural sport contests, officials, scorekeepers, and/or supervisors shall make decisions whether to warn, penalize, or eject persons and/or teams for poor sportsmanship. Team ratings are:
    4 (excellent), 3 (above average), 2 (average), 1 (below average), 0 (poor)
    2. At the conclusion of every game the Intramural sports officials and/or supervisors shall determine the team conduct ratings.  Conduct ratings given at the game site ARE NOT NEGOTIABLE. Teams must carry a minimum cumulative 2.5 Conduct Rating in order to be eligible for playoffs. Teams that do not have the minimum conduct rating WILL NOT be entered into the playoff bracket.  The Intramural Sports Program staff also reserves the right to review any rating given to a team.
    3. A player ejected from a game for any reason results in at least a one game suspension. Fighting and other acts of misconduct may result in more than a one game suspension. Penalties are at the discretion of the Assistant Director for Intramural Sports.
    4. Any player addressing an official in an unsportsmanlike and discourteous manner disqualifies them self immediately for the remainder of the game and the next game. Baiting and abusing the umpires will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Please remember, the officials are themselves students in a difficult position doing a thankless job.
