Topics covered in the workshop will include personality styles of successful grant-writers, grant-writing teams, key components of a proposal, differences between government and foundation grants, writing goals and objectives, developing a system to analyze grant activities and completing online applications.
Nationally recognized grant-writer Jack Smith will show participants the best ways to gain government and foundation funding for programs and projects. Smith has provided grant-writing services to more than 150 organizations, including the Huntington’s Disease Society of America, Catholic Charities of Greater Atlanta, Y-Clubs of Georgia, Century Pacific Housing and the Maine Center for Community Dental Health.
He has taught grant-writing skills for numerous state governments, and for agencies and clients of the U.S. Department of Education and the U.S. Department of Energy. Smith serves as an adjunct instructor at the University of Southern Maine, the University of Georgia, Emory University, Duke University and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Management Institute.
Mark Sorrells, executive vice president of the Golden Leaf Foundation, will discuss grants from the perspective of the foundation, including a discussion of how the foundation decides which projects to fund.
Participants will receive boilerplate grant materials and will learn about accessing Internet resources.
Pre-registration is required by Monday, July 16. An early registration fee of $69 per person is available until Thursday, July 5. After July 5, the registration fee is $89 per person. Group rates are available.
