Engineering Societies
At Western Carolina University, you will be able to participate in student chapters of national engineering societies. Activities include meetings, guest speakers, trips, competitions, service projects, leadership opportunities, scholarships, networking, career guidance and more!  Currently there are WCU chapters of the following societies:

IEEESAE International

IEEE Awards 2005

The Western North Carolina section of the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers) honored Bill Medaris (left) for his work as chairman of the Asheville section as well as serving as the WCU Faculty Advisor to the student chapter until 2001. Ken Burbank (center) served as the faculty advisor for two years. Robert Adams (right) is the current faculty advisor and has revitalized the WCU chapter of IEEE.

Professional engineering societies can support you now and in your future career. These societies help members stay informed, connected, and growing professionally. They coordinate public outreach, education and service opportunities. Some provide scholarship, internship, and job opportunities.
