New Director of Admissions…
Alan Kines, the newly appointed director of undergraduate admission at Western Carolina University, brings a personal perspective to the admission and success of transfer students. He transferred after his freshman year at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga to the Knoxville campus, from which he received the B.S. in communication in 1980. Since then he has worked in admission at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst (M.Ed., 1992), Northeastern University, Worcester State College, and Babson College, all in Massachusetts. He came to Cullowhee last December. “I’m very excited to be at Western because of its mission of access and educational excellence,” Kines explained. “We are working to provide students with the most seamless transfer process at any UNC campus.”
New Location on Campus…
The admissions office has a new home on campus! We are now located in the Camp Building. This is a much larger space for our office and is in a better location. We are now in the same building with Educational Outreach and The Graduate School. This move will better help us to serve students when they visit campus. Campus map—the Camp Building is location #4.
