About Anthropology and Sociology
In the fall of 2004, the Department of Anthropology and Sociology augmented its offering of academic programs by introducing its newest major, a degree in forensic anthropologyJohn Williams, one of only 55 board-certified forensic anthropologists in the United States, currently heads both the department and the forensic anthropology program.

Our students come to us from all over the world. The same is true of our exceptionally qualified faculty and staff who are committed to preparing their students to compete in the world after graduation.

Our department offers all the latest technologies available in each discipline to provide students with an excellent educational experience. Our facilities include the Western Carolina Human Identification Laboratory and the Ethnography Laboratory.
