The Interior Design Program adheres to and supports the mission of Western Carolina University and in accordance with its primary mission of teaching, the program provides a scholarly atmosphere that stimulates service, research and creative activities by its faculty and students.

Our Philosophy

In a word, design should be “fun.” There should be an enthusiasm in the learning process, an energy to explore creatively, yet the result should provide a meaningful solution.

Our Mission

To provide a learning center for students to understand, 1) concepts in several areas of design, 2) materials used in environments and 3) applicable skills & technology.

Our Goal

Students should graduate from the interior design program with the confidence to understand the problem, articulate ideas and present an appropriate solution.
