Encyclopedias & Dictionaries
Use a dictionary to find concise definitions. Use encyclopedias to gain a general understanding of a subject by perusing detailed articles written by carefully selected scholars. Especially useful are the bibliographies generally included at the end of encyclopedia articles, which offer recommendations for further reading and often identify original research.
