NC Teach
NC TEACH is a statewide teacher licensure program administered by the University of North Carolina, in collaboration with the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. NC TEACH recruits, prepares, and supports mid-career professionals as they begin a teaching career in North Carolina’s public schools.

The program begins with a full-time Summer Institute. In its sixth year, the WCU NC TEACH program courses are taught on the campus of UNC-Asheville.

Admission Criteria:

• Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution

• 2.75 grade point average on 4.0 scale

• Written and oral communication skills demonstrated through an interview and application process

• Three letters of recommendation

• Acceptance into WCU graduate school

• Satisfactory score on the GRE

Program:

• Individual plan of study

• Five-week summer institute

• Employment as lateral-entry teacher

• Graduate courses fall and spring semesters

• Additional content courses, if required for licensure
