Student and Poster Presentations

The Cullowhee Native Plant Conference is pleased to provide the opportunity for all conference participants to share their knowledge and experience with native plants by presenting Posters.  Students are especially encouraged to present posters of their research. Students are also encouraged submit a proposal to make a student presentation during the conference.

Topics for both posters and presentations should center on native plants and their use in the landscape. The following topics are intended to be suggestive rather than exhaustive: ecological restoration and management, botany, conservation horticulture, ecological sustainability, propagation, plant communities, medicinal plants, educational programs, geology and soils, invasive species management, landscape design.

POSTERS
Online Poster Session Application

Student: Open to current and recent graduates, Winter 2011 or Spring 2012.  Awards will be given for graduate and undergraduate student posters, and, if necessary, will be broken into scientific and design categories.  Judging will occur during the poster session on Friday morning.  Open to working professionals, hobbyists, educational groups, or botanical institutions who would like to display information about their professional work or educational commitment.

Posters will be on display for the duration of the conference in the main arena. During the morning Poster Presentation Session on Friday, July 20, 2012, poster presenters will stand beside their posters to answer questions and informally discuss the topic of their poster. No other presentations are scheduled during the poster session.

STUDENT PRESENTATIONS
Online Student Presentation Application

Student presentations will occur during the Concurrent Sessions on Friday, July 20, 2012.  Each student presentation will be allowed 30 minutes, thereby allowing two student presentations during a Concurrent Session.  Please aim for 20-25 minutes of presentation followed by 5-10 minutes of questions.  There is a minimum of four (4) and a maximum of six (6) presentations that can be accommodated.
