WCU Staff members, 

We are writing you today to provide you with the attached summary from President Tom Ross regarding  UNC priorities for legislative action this year.   A top priority that we are hearing will be to consolidate personnel management for the UNC system by placing the authority for all university employees under the UNC Board of Governors.  At this point in time there is NO bill or legislative action pending. These documents are for your review and dissemination to all staff in your respective areas. The UNC Staff Assembly and the WCU Staff Senate are seeking feedback to provide  the staff perspective of this plan to UNC Staff Assembly. The general idea is to place all university employees under the UNC  System Board of Governors authority.  Under this proposed authority there would no longer be two governing systems and the UNC System would have the flexibility to govern their own staff.  This flexibility would provide both efficiency and effectiveness.  Much discussion and speculation on this topic is presently taking place, but our purpose is to keep you updated and informed about the possibility of this change and what it would mean to all staff .  Our goal is to ensure you  get accurate and timely information.  Please read the additional documentation below and provide it to any staff interested in order to raise awareness and to inform all staff members. This is a very important subject and we will work to make sure that all of our questions and concerns will be addressed.
