Don Connelly teaches courses in broadcasting with area specialities in brodcast sales and local and network radio broadcasting. Connelly is the faculty advisor for the university radio station, Power 90.5 FM, www.wwcufm.com. He earned his master's degree in communication from the University of Central Missouri. Connelly's work with his students has been recognized at Western Carolina University, having received the Chancellor's Meritorious Service Award to Students. Connelly is the author of Digital Radio Production, First Edition, a college textboook published by McGraw-Hill Higher Education.
Connelly's background includes 18 years of commercial broadcasting experience and managing and developing radio stations in Florida. Prior to his joining the faculty at WCU, he was with Clear Channel Communications in Orlando, Fla., as Affiliate Relations Director for Florida's News Network. The network provides hourly news and programming services for nearly 90 stations and distributes numerous major sports networks via satellite.
Connelly says his biggest reward as a faculty member is seeing his students excel as they start their professional careers.
