Biography:

Amy Orfield Kohler has been teaching dance at WCU since 2004. She is co-founder, dancer, and choreographer with "Wings Dance Company" with which she has produced and performed her work throughout the U.S. and Canada. She also has choreographed the musical Hair, produced in Asheville by the Hair Project, and has presented her choreography in Asheville's Fringe festival as well in Asheville Ballet performances.

Kohler has staged and/or choreographed sections of Don Quixote, Les Slyphides, The Nutcracker, Swan Lake, and Coppelia. She has been with the Asheville Ballet and ADDance since 2001 dancing many leading roles, teaching, and assisting with rehearsals. 

Kohler's professional dance experience includes the Boitsov Classical Ballet of Chicago, Ballet Chicago, Ballet Theater of Chicago, Lyric Opera of Chicago, and Ballet Iowa. She also has performed as a guest artist with Lori Belilove and Company (New York) and toured with Ken Laws, assisting in presentations on the Physics of Dance. In addition she has experience working as a dance-movement therapist.
