What majors does this minor complement?
Western Carolina University’s Economics Minor provides a skill set that complements all of the majors in the College of Business. Moreover, it is an excellent supplement for most other WCU majors in that prospective employers--as well as admission officers for graduate and professional program--highly regard Economics because of the rigorous and analytical nature of the discipline.
What are the students in the program doing?
Economics students are developing an understanding of economic concepts and learning to apply those principles to real-world problems. Students learn deductive concepts of economic theory as well as the inductive tools of econometrics—statistics applied to economics and business.
Omicron Delta Epsilon, an International Honors Society in Economics, has a Chapter at Western Carolina University. Approximately two-thirds of students presently enrolled in the Economics Minor have met the rigorous requirements of Omicron Delta Epsilon.
What are the professors in this program like?
