The Minor in Criminal Justice requires CJ 250 and 15 additional hours of CJ electives approved by the department head. These courses are determined in consultation with the student in order to best determine the student’s individual interests and academic program.
What majors does this minor complement?
The minor in Criminal Justice is an excellent complement for students majoring in Business Law, Emergency and Disaster Management, Emergency Medical Care, Political Science, Sociology and Social Work. It is also relevant for anyone interested in learning more about how and why crimes occur and how the criminal justice systems operates.
What are the students in the program doing?
Recent graduates are working in the fields of law enforcement, security, community corrections, counseling, and juvenile justice, as well as in other careers in government and business. We also have a number of students in law school and graduate programs. Previous graduates may be found practicing law, teaching at the community college and university levels, and in administrative positions of local, state and federal criminal justice agencies.
What are the professors in this program like?
Our faculty hold terminal degrees from some of the premier criminal justice programs within the nation. They also bring extensive professional experience into the classroom.
