Graduate Assistantships
Graduate assistantships are available to a limited number of well-qualified graduate students. With an assistantship, you receive a monthly stipend for fulfilling teaching, research, or professional development duties in addition to your graduate coursework. Stipends vary from $7,000 to $10,500 per year, based on a 20-hour-per-week work assignment. Contact your program director for more information about recieving an assistantship.  To qualify for an assistantship, you must be a full-time (at least 9 hours) student in a WCU resident credit graduate program and maintain satisfactory academic progress (3.0 GPA) on all graduate coursework.  In your last semester of graduate study, you may be permitted to take as few as six credit hours to maintain a graduate assistantship.

Graduate assistantship opportunities are available outside of your academic program, too. Contact your program director or department head for more information.

Tuition Waivers

The in-state and/or out-of-state portion of tuition may be waived for some, not all, assistantships.  Contact your program director for information about tuition waivers.
