Posting Policy

A.K. Hinds University Center Posting Policy

It shall be the policy of the A.K. Hinds University Center to provide designated areas for public posting. The following guidelines represent the terms by which postings may be displayed. Violation of this policy will be reviewed by the University Center Advisory Board and a recommendation may be made to the Department for Student Judicial Affairs. The office of the Assistant Director of Operation within the University Center will be responsible for enforcement of the posting policy.

All posted material must include contact information for the person or group sponsoring the flyer, and the date on which the material was posted. There are NO EXCEPTIONS.

1. Students may post information and notices in areas provided by the University Center, including kiosks, bulletin boards, and designated areas. Posters and other printed advertising can be posted on bulletin boards not designated for specific organizations. If there are questions regarding the use of these specific organization areas please direct them to the organization.

2. Only one (1) notice per event may be posted per kiosk or board surface. (Special consideration for posting may be granted by the office of the Assistant Director for Operations or his/her designee. Requests for special posting must be submitted no less than one week before event.)

3. Materials covering or obstructing other notices will be removed.

4. Posted materials should not exceed 11 x 17 unless special permission is granted.

5. Posting is not permitted on the brick surfaces outside and adjacent to the entrances of the building.

6. Posting is permitted on public bulletin boards located on the second floor atrium walls beside the Information Desk and on the first floor near the copier machine. Also it must be approved at the Information Desk.

7. Posting is prohibited on:

·        Artwork
·        Trees
·        Furniture
·        Sidewalks
·        Walls, including stairwell
·        Signs
·        Elevators
·        Windows and glass doors.

8. Chalk may be used to post notices on sidewalks, but is prohibited on buildings. Chalk is also prohibited on surfaces that it will not be removed by rain. Under no circumstances may acrylics, ink, or paint be used on any permanent surface.

9. University personnel will remove notices from all student posting areas. Posting areas will be checked regularly to remove dated notices, non-university related postings, and violations.

10. The University Center will maintain all public posting areas. These areas will be subjugated into areas of student interest. It will be the responsibility of the posting student/organization to post their material on the correct board.
