Summer Session Courses

MKT 693: Topics: Mature and Aging Consumers

This is a course that has been designed to familiarize participants with key issues associated with aging consumers and with the impact of our aging population.  The approach is multi-disciplinary and graduate students from business, health care, politics, physical sciences, and social sciences will be able to participate.  No assumptions are made about student backgrounds, other than that they are capable of master’s level research, analysis, and communications.  Students will have the flexibility to tailor much of the class to meet their personal learning objectives.  This course is taught fully online.

MKT 693: Topics: Technology and Marketing

This is a course designed to familiarize students with key topics in marketing that have been impacted by technology and to familiarize students with the challenges of marketing in high technology industries.  Students will be able to create individual learning plans, and much of the course is taught like a directed independent study.  While the focus will be on electronic delivery of products and services, other areas such as batteries, biotechnology, and health care services may be explored based on student interests.  This course is taught fully online.

SPAN 231 Intermediate Spanish I

This is a course for students who have completed two college semesters of Spanish (or equivalent). It provides a review of the grammatical structures of Spanish and introduces students to various aspects of the Hispanic cultures. It is aimed at strengthening the student's listening, speaking, reading and writing skills in Spanish, as well as developing an awareness and sensitivity towards the cultures of the Hispanic world. Required for the major and minor. Prereq: 102 or placement. Meets P6 category (World Cultures) of Liberal Studies. Class will meet in the Mini-Mester term (May 9 - May 24), daily, (MTWRF) from 9:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

Note: This is a unique opportunity for BA students to continue their language study in the summer.

PRM 486 Field Experience - Kayak the Coast

This course is an expedition style sea kayaking course along Cape Lookout National Seashore.  All equipment will be provided and no prior kayaking or camping experience is necessary.

Summer Session CoursesPRM 352 Beginning Canoe and Kayak

This course provides concentrated canoe and kayak instruction in the Reid Gym pool and on local lakes and rivers.  All equipment will be provided and no prior boating experience is necessary.

PRM 252 Wilderness First Aid

This course teaches basic wilderness first aid skills needed to assist patients in an outdoor environment.  Certification is available through the American Red Cross in Wilderness First Aid and Community CPR/AED.
