What makes this program special?
WCU’s program concentrates on business education, with a management degree that focuses on hospitality and tourism in the AACSB-accredited College of Business. The Hospitality and Tourism Management program is a major in the department of Management and International Business within the College of Business. Our high-quality faculty offers personalized education with small classes in a beautiful natural environment near resorts and other tourism venues.

Are there any additional admission requirements?  
There are no additional admission requirements.

What scholarship monies are available?
All students are considered for merit-based scholarships at the time of admission. Additional scholarships are available based on FAFSA information. Also, students may apply for the Hospitality & Tourism Foundation and several regional and national scholarships, including those sponsored by tourism organizations, the Club Management Association of America, and various hotel and food service companies and organizations.

What will I be able to do with this degree when I graduate?
Dynamic career paths await you in hotel and restaurant management; private club and resort management; tourism planning and development; cruise lines and casino operations; meeting, convention, and event management; and many other areas. The hospitality and tourism industries are growing and in need of qualified managers.

What are the professors like?
Our professors care about students and have a passion for the dynamic hospitality and tourism industries.They hold terminal degrees, have industry experience, are involved in industry-related organizations, and conduct research in the field of hospitality and tourism.

What are the students in the program doing?
Graduates of the program work in Hospitality and Tourism Management throughout the region and the country. During the summer break, our students find employment in a variety of positions in hospitality and tourism at resorts, private clubs, restaurants, hotels and other businesses.

Will I be able to participate in internships, clubs and other extracurricular opportunities?
Hospitality and Tourism students are involved in a number of organizations. We have active chapters of the Club Managers Association of America, Eta Sigma Delta (an honor society in hospitality and tourism), and a Hospitality and Tourism Club. Members are involved in professional development, community service and travel opportunities. All students are required to gain work experience in hospitality or tourism before they graduate, and there are opportunities to travel though special courses and club activities.
