The Fair Pay Act, also know as the Lilly Ledbetter Act, is the first law enacted in the Obama administration and may represent sweeping changes in compensation litigation and lead to a dramatic increase in such cases, said Jonathan Yarbrough, workshop presenter and employment attorney .
Other changes include executive compensation limitations, the new Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act rules, and the McCaskill whistleblower law, all of which are contained in recently enacted federal stimulus legislation, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
Yarbrough will discuss how these changes can affect various organizations and will use case studies to help participants create strategies for complying with employment laws.
Yarbrough is an employment attorney practicing with the national labor and employment law firm of Constangy, Brooks & Smith, LLC, in Asheville. He is a frequent presenter on employment law issues nationally and also leads continuing legal education workshops designed for other attorneys.
