A series of information sessions will be held in Asheville this fall to allow prospective students to learn about Western Carolina University’s newly revised master’s degree program in business administration.
Included in the changes made to the MBA program is the elimination of prerequisites for students without undergraduate degrees in business, said Steve Henson, director of graduate programs in WCU’s College of Business.
“This program has been specifically designed to respond to the challenges facing Western North Carolina and the regional economy,” Henson said. “The program is hands-on, integrative and interdisciplinary, with a goal of creating independent lifelong learners who are business-ready to assume leadership positions.”
Revised with the assistance of local business executives, the new MBA will allow students to receive work experience as they undergo classroom instruction, and the program can now be completed in less than two years, Henson said.
Information sessions will be held in Room 110 of Karpen Hall on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Asheville at these times:
Friday, Oct. 23: Noon to 1 p.m. and 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
Friday, Dec. 4: Noon to 1 p.m. and 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
Each event will include a brief presentation, followed by a meet-and-greet with beverages and snacks. Individuals who plan to attend one of the sessions are asked to e-mail mba@wcu.edu with the date and time of the session he or she will attend.
Anyone who cannot attend an Asheville session can learn more about the program by contacting Henson at (828) 227-3227 or shenson@wcu.edu. Information also is available at http://www.wcu.edu/12111.asp.
