Mid-Education Student Success Initiative (September 7 – October 31)
An important part of the Western Carolina EXTREMES program involves your RA scheduling individual meetings with you between September 7 and October 31 to discuss issues that are significant to sophomores and juniors. The conversations will be guided by the Mid-Education Student Success Initiative (MESSI), so you may hear that term as the RAs attempt to schedule meetings. The meetings should last approximately 15 minutes – unless the two of you want to talk longer. During the conversation you may discuss career goals, academic status, internships, involvement, study abroad possibilities, your residential community, and much more. As the semester draws to a close, your RA will follow up with you via email to revisit any concerns or issues you had during your 1:1 meeting and provide you with any additional assistance you may need.
Please make time for these important conversations when you are approached by your RA to schedule a meeting. In addition to helping you focus intentionally on your college career, the information you share may be used to make the residence life experience more valuable for your peers and those who come after you. Thanks for your participation!
