EXTREME Families

Hey students, are your families members in the WCU Family Association?   The Family Association is a great way for families to stay up to date with what’s going on here on campus.  The Family Association also provides support for activities that directly impact students.   If your families haven’t joined the Family Association, there’s always time to join at familyassociation.wcu.edu.

Even if they aren’t members of the Family Association, there are many ways families can help students navigate their sophomore and junior years:

  • Talk to your student about their academic plan – this will help them graduate in a timely manner and ensure they’ve planned to participate in the important experiences they need to successfully compete in the marketplace
  • Encourage your student to build their professional and personal support network on campus – the college years build lifetime friendships as well as the professional contacts needed to get into graduate school or land their dream job
  • Encourage your student to make use of campus resources such as the Catamount Tutoring Center, the Writing Center and the Library
  • The college years are a great time to develop a holistic approach to health and wellness – WCU has a full complement of health and wellness activities to engage your student
