History/Comments : Farmhouse had built-in hooks in an upstairs room for attaching a quilting frame. With the quilt unfinished and the back visible, this quilt is a good teaching tool for the biscuit or puff technique. Puff quilts are not quilts strictly speaking since there is not a layer of batting between a top and a back. A wad of cotton is encased in a single unit (a puff or biscuit) and then the individual units are attached together to make a quilt top. This quilt has 1026 puffs. The foundation pieces for the puffs might be feed sack cloth.
