History/Comments : Ruby was the seventh of eleven children born to Estes and Elanora Green. She learned to sew and quilt at an early age. Throughout her life, Ruby loved to make quilts. Everywhere she went she would carry a little bag with scissors, thread, needle, thimble, and quilt pieces. She was an expert at cutting out quilt pieces from material until the only thing left would be strings. Ruby often remarked how she and her mother would sew together small pieces to get a section large enough to make a quilt piece. Her passion was for the old patterns, such as Grandmother's Flower Garden. At Ruby's death, the family distributed over 100 quilts made by Ruby.
