48 Hour Film Festival 2009
A production team of WCU filmmakers and actors won 5 awards at this year’s Asheville 48 Hour Film Film Project. Led by director Mike Santoro working with a script by Kirk Gunton, Kai Hamilton, and Zach Johnson, “Nostalgia” won Best Film, Best Director, Best Female Actor for Alex LaBelle, Best Use of Prop, and Audience Award for favorite film.  Zach Johnson was director of photography, Leah Thomas produced, incoming transfer student Chris Read was editor, and the rest of the crew were MPT students.  The actors were from the WCU Theatre program.  Music and sound design were by Nick Stubblefield and Mark Hallesey of the Commercial and Electronic Music program.  This is the third year in a row that MPT students won 5 or more awards and the second time in 3 years that we swept the top 3 awards: Best Film, Audience Award, and Best Director.
