About Dr. Godfrey:
Ray received his doctorate, in December of 2007, from the M.E. Rinker Sr. School of Building Construction at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida.
In addition to having taught the construction materials course for three years, while completing his doctorate, Ray has taught courses in construction management, construction estimating, and construction safety, while a visiting professor at the University of Southern Mississippi from August 07 through May 08, and the California State University, Fresno from August 2008 through May 2009.
Rays primary teaching and research areas include construction safety management, promotion of health and injury prevention within the construction industry, and developing construction safety specializations, at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, within a construction education curriculum. During his graduate studies at the University of Florida, Ray worked within the Flour Center for Construction Safety. His efforts contributed to the identification, and development of best safety management practice within construction, as supported by the Construction Industry Institute (CII). Ray hopes to introduce concepts and methodologies from injury epidemiology and prevention, health and human performance, biometrics, and education into his research agenda and teaching techniques. Following an athletic performance based heuristic rather than old pathological frameworks, Ray promotes learning toward improving the health and performance (subsequent productivity) profile of the construction industry.
