Kimberly Lynn Elliott, Ed.D
Dr. Kim Elliott serves as the Director of Teacher Education Recruitment in the College of Education and Allied Professions at Western Carolina University. Kim provides oversight and direction for the Western Carolina University Teacher Education Recruitment Plan which includes the twenty-seven actions targeted by the University of North Carolina General Administration for recruitment. The initiative provides for the recruitment of middle school students, high school students, community college students, students with undeclared majors, students with diverse backgrounds, male students, and second career professionals into the education profession. Initiatives also focus on the high need teaching areas of Math, Science, Special Education, Middle Grades Education, and Foreign Language Education. She teaches in the Educational Leadership and Foundations Department and in the B.S.Ed. Distance Program for Jamaican Teachers. Dr. Elliott’s former roles in public education include: Elementary Education K-6 teacher; Arts Education K-12 teacher; school administrator; central office administrator; NC Department of Public Instruction recruitment specialist; university and community college adjunct faculty; regional education service alliance professional development consultant; and school system director of curriculum K-12, Title II, V and low wealth grants coordinator.

Laura Phillips assists the Office of Teacher Education Recruitment with financial, resource, and office management, WANTtoTEACH.wcu.edu website modification, and program/grant implementation. Ms. Phillips’ is in her 18th year with WCU.
