The program leading to the Master of Business Administration degree requires the completion of 42 semester hours at the 600 level, including:

MBA 601:  Leadership, Ethics, Social Responsibility, and Teamwork
Introduction to leadership in modern organizations, including social responsibility, ethics, and teamwork.  PREQ:  Admission to graduate business program or permission of COB Graduate Programs Director

MBA 602:  Strategy and Marketing
Strategic and marketing planning, including environmental survey, competitive analysis, buyer behavior, and strategic and marketing plans.    Preq:  Admission to Graduate Business Program or permission of MBA Director

MBA 603:  Human Resource Management
Managing human assets and liabilities, including employment, labor rules, dispute resolution, and employee benefits.    Preq:  Admission to Graduate Business Program or permission of MBA Director

MBA 604:  Managing Value-Creating Business Operations
Processes, problems, and strategies related to the creation of products and services.  Preq:  Admission to Graduate Business Program or permission of MBA Director

MBA 605:  Marketing Management

Managing the CMO suite:  marketing strategy, positioning, product, channels, communications, pricing, and marketing research.  Preq:  MBA 601, MBA 602, MBA 603, MBA 604

MBA 606:  Managing Research and Development Activities

Managing the CRDO suite:  technology management, innovation, uncertainty, real options, and integrating strategy and technology planning,  Preq:  MBA 601, MBA 602, MBA 603, MBA 604

MBA 607:  Managing Information
Managing the CIO suite:  IT and strategy, emerging technology, regulatory requirements, and security.  Preq:  MBA 601, MBA 602, MBA 603, MBA 604

MBA 608:  Portfolio Management
Managing the CFO suite I:  Business, trading, and investment construction; portfolio theory, risk analysis, and options theory.   Preq:  MBA 601, MBA 602, MBA 603, MBA 604, MBA 606

MBA 609:  Legal and Regulatory Issues in Business
Interacting with the Counsel Suite:  mergers and acquisitions, trade, human assets and liabilities, international law, and accountability.  Preq:  MBA 601, MBA 602, MBA 603, MBA 604    

MBA 610:  Managing Organizations
Managing Organizations:  The human resource implications of managing organizations.  Preq:  MBA 601, MBA 602, MBA 603, MBA 604

MBA 611:  Financial Valuations
Managing the CFO Suite II:  Valuing companies, projects, capital expenditures, and cash flows.  Preq:  MBA 601, MBA 602, MBA 603, MBA 604, MBA 607, MBA 608

MBA 612:  Effective Leadership Practices
Managing the CEO Suite:  Effective Leadership Practices.  Preq:  MBA 601, 602, 603, 604, 605, 606, 607, 608    

Electives Hours:  6 hours of graduate electives approved by the MBA Director.

After completing the requirements for the MBA degree, students may also develop a specialization by completing concentrations in one of several areas:


Concentration in Health Care Administration


The program leading to the M.B.A. degree with a concentration in Health Care Administration requires the completion of the 36 semester hour M.B.A. core, and 15 semester hours of required Health Sciences concentration courses.

The required Health Sciences concentration courses are:

MHS 510 - Systems and Policy in Health Care Credits: 3

HMGT 564 - Cost Containment/Productivity Management in Healthcare Organizations Credits: 3

HMGT 664 - The Legal Environment of Healthcare Credits: 3

HMGT 665 - Quality Performance in Health Care Organizations Credits: 3

HMGT 630 – Medicare and Medicaid: 3 


Concentration in Human Resources


The program leading to the M.B.A. degree with a concentration in Human Resources requires the completion of the 36 semester hour M.B.A. core, 12 semester hours of required Human Resources concentration courses and 6 semester hours of graduate level human resources courses selected with the approval of the M.H.R. advisor. 

The required Human Resources concentration courses are:

HR 605 - Orientation to Human Resources Credits: 3

HR 610 - Human Resource Development Credits: 3

HR 617 - Organization Performance Credits: 3

HR 645 - Consultation in Human Resources Credits: 3

Certificate in Project Management

The program leading to the M.B.A. degree with a concentration in Project Management requires the completion of the 36 semester hour MBA core and 12 semester hours of required Project Management courses selected with approval of the Project Management Director.


Concentration in Entrepreneurship

The program leading to the M.B.A. degree with a concentration in Entrepreneurship requires the completion of the 36 semester hour M.B.A core and 15 hours of graduate level Entrepreneurship courses selected with the approval of the Entrepreneurship program Director.

Concentration in Sales and Marketing

The program leading to the M.B.A. degree with a concentration in Sales and Marketing requires the completion of the 36 semester hour M.B.A core and 12 hours of graduate level Sales and Marketing courses selected with the approval of the MBA Director.
