Course Title: ELMG 593 Multiliteracies for Diverse Literacy Learners

Course Description: This two week workshop-style course is designed to provide teachers of any level the opportunity to examine the potential for developing communicative skills among diverse students in a globalized world dominated by commercialized popular culture, array of multimedia texts, and emerging technologies. Participants will explore and develop practical techniques for enhancing verbal, visual, audio, gestural, and/or spatial communicative skills in ways that are directly applicable to each participant’s current teaching assignment, curricular interests, technological skills, and available resources. This course meets literacy requirements for a graduate degree. NOTE: The use of a laptop, if available, may enhance the workshop experience.
Course schedule: June 1 – June 22. Workshop meetings 5:00-8:45 MTWTF in Ashville.
