Paul Basler, professor of music at the University of Florida, will present a recital on horn at Western Carolina University on Wednesday, March 14.
Basler’s recital is set for 8 p.m. in the recital hall of the Coulter Building. He will perform many of his own compositions and will be joined by several current WCU faculty members who were his colleagues while he taught at Western from 1989-93.
While at WCU on March 14, Basler also will conduct a horn master class at 2:30 p.m. in the recital hall. Both the recital and the master class are free and open to the public.
Basler has performed as guest artist at many International Horn Society workshops and has been a member of the Asheville, Brevard, Charleston, Gainesville, Greenville and Tallahassee symphonies.
Basler’s visit is sponsored by the Visiting Scholars Fund, the College of Arts and Sciences, and the department of music.
