Student places first in Charlotte Opera Guild

Western Carolina University graduate student Laurel Fisher won first place in the graduate division auditions of the Charlotte Opera Guild on Saturday, Feb. 24.
Fisher, 2004 graduate of Mars Hill College and daughter of John and Wanda Fisher of Knoxville, Tenn., is a soprano and currently is working on her master’s degree of music in voice at Western.
Elite singers from across North Carolina traveled to participate in the Charlotte Opera Guild auditions. Winners in graduate and undergraduate divisions were awarded cash prizes and performed in a concert.
