Western Carolina University’s Talent Search Program will sponsor a series of free workshops to allow high school students to learn about applying for federal financial aid.
The workshops will focus on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), the form that most colleges require from students seeking federal aid.
The workshop schedule includes Andrews High School, 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 8; Hiwassee Dam School, 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 8; Nantahala School, 8 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10; Cherokee High School, 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 11; Swain County High School, 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 11; and Robbinsville High School, 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16.
Talent Search provides a wide range of college access services to local students, including tutoring, career exploration, interest assessment, classroom workshops, assistance with financial aid and college applications, and information on post-secondary institutions.
Western’s Talent Search Program serves about 900 students in the five westernmost counties of North Carolina and on the Qualla Boundary.
