The event is called Cara de Angel (or “Angel Face”), and it will be held from 8 p.m. until midnight in the Grandroom of A.K. Hinds University Center. Admission is $3.
D.J. Carlos will provide music, including salsa, cumbia, rancheras, meringue, rhythm and blues, and reggaeton. The event also will feature dance lessons, and the WCU Flava Dance team will be on hand to perform routines.
This event will mark the second Angel Face fundraiser organized by La Voz Latina. Last year, the group took up the cause of a young Hispanic boy from Jackson County who was diagnosed with brain tumors and whose family was having a difficult time financially.
“Through our event, we were able to raise about $1,000,” said Carla Catalan, president of La Voz Latina. “We donated all the funds raised to the family to help them with medical expenses. This year, we have decided to make Angel Face an annual benefit.”
The dance party benefit is co-sponsored by La Voz Latina, the Environmental Club, Interested Ladies of Lambda Theta Alpha Latin sorority, Epsilon Tau Pi fraternity for Eagle Scouts, WCU Flava Dance Team, Multicultural Center, and Jenna Ellison.
