Introduction to Ethics in Substance Abuse Practice

(3 contact hours)

Goal: This course examines basic ethical principles in substance abuse practice. Content includes: exploring your professional code of ethics (NAADAC, NASW, etc.); implications of HIPAA regulations on substance abuse practice; models of ethical decision making and practice with ethical dilemmas.

Objectives:
1. To increase knowledge about ethical issues in clinical practice
2. To understand some of the legal issues involved in ethical clinical practice
3. To adopt and apply a method of  ethical decision making

Professional Code of Ethics
Implications of HIPAA regulations on Substance Abuse Treatment Programs
  The Privacy Rule
  42 CFR
  Research
Basic Model of Ethical Decision Making
Ethical Dilemmas

Costs:
$50.00 for this workshop or you may register for the four substance abuse workshops (18 hours) for $250.
