Current Projects
Presently we have several large projects underway or in the design phase across campus.
Our 2000 Bond projects are coming to a close but are followed by:
UNDER CONSTRUCTION
New Dining Hall (replaces Dodson Dining Hall) located on the West side of central quad. There are two floors housing a Starbucks Coffee House, McAllisters Restaurant, four additional food venues, and a convenient Store on the first floor; All you can eat on the second floor with seven food venues. Outdoor dining facing the central quad will be available. STATUS: Acceptance with Punch List - 10/15/09
Budget = $16,822,595
Gross Square Footage = 53,250New Residence Halls replacing Helder and Leatherwood Residence Halls are located on the South end of the Central Quad. Consist of two - four story buildings connected by covered bridge/common room on the fourth floor. Houses 800+ students single and double occupancy within suites; in addition are four apartments (two per building) housing staff along with office suite for the Honors College. COMPLETION SCHEDULED FOR FALL SEMESTR 2010.

Gross Square Footage = 234,497New Health and Gerontology Building on new site on West Campus. Construction Notice to Proceed issued 5-18-09 with completion July 2011. The facility is a Silver LEED project with four floors tucked into the mountain side. The facility will serve the university for instructional purposes and the community for enhancement of the academic program and university/community involvement. Outdoor garden plaza provides opportunity for small outdoor classes and study. COMPLETION SCHEDULED FOR FALL SEMESTER 2011

IN DESIGN PHASE
New North Carolina Center for Health and Aging on MAHEC Campus in Asheville, NC. The building is one of two buildings on newly developed campus presently under construction. The building is a three story structure consisting of 50,000 sq. ft. Construction Bids are currently being solicited. Sealed proposals will be received until no later than 1 p.m. on December 8, 2009 in the H F Robinson Administration Building, 65 W. University Way, Mountain Heritage Center Auditorium, 1st Floor, Cullowhee, NC, at which time and place bids will be opened and read. Bidders must be pre-qualified to be eligible to submit bids and to have their bids considered. The followed licensed General Contractors have been pre-qualified: American South General Constructors;Barnhill Contracting Co.; Beverly-Grant, Inc.;Brasfield & Gorrie;Choate Construction;Clancy & Theys;John S. Clark Company; Cooper Construction Co.; D.S. Simmons, Inc.;Edifice;Edison Foard Inc.;H & M Constructors; Hardin Construction Co.;Hickory Construction;Landmark Builders;LeChase Construction; M.B.Kahn Construction;Matthews Construction Corp.;McCarroll Construction;Monteith Construction Group;New Atlantic Contracting;R.J.Griffin & Co.;R.L.Casey Inc.;R.N.Rouse & Co.;Randolph & Son Builders;Rentenbach Constructors;Rodgers Builders;Samet Corporation;Shelco, Inc.;Vannoy Construction;Wilke Construction. A pre-bid meeting will be held for all interested bidders and vendors on November 23, 2009 at 2 p.m. at the MAHEC Campus, 501 Biltmore Avenue, Asheville, NC. Complete plans and specifications for this project will be available November 3, 2009 after 12:00 p.m. from LS3P Associates, 227 W. Trade Street, Suite 700, Charlotte NC 28202. Complete plans and specifications will be available for review in the Associated General Contractors, McGraw-Hill Dodge and HCAC plan rooms. Plan deposit $400 per set if returned in complete and usable condition within 10 days after bid opening. The state reserves the unqualified right to reject any and all proposals.
