Financial Aid Office
It’s our goal is to help you find ways to bring this remarkable education opportunity in reach.

In the event that your financial aid paperwork has been completed, and you have not received your financial aid package, you may be eligible for a financial aid deferment.  Financial Aid deferments are only available to students that meet ALL requirements of the policy.  Please view the financal aid deferment policy to determine if you are eligible.  Ineligible students will not be granted a deferment.

After completing the FAFSA, you may be required to submit further documentation for your Financial Aid to be awarded. You can access  forms at FINANCIAL AID FORMS here.

When you apply for financial aid, the WCU Financial Aid Office uses your information to determine your financial aid package.

We start by determining your expected family contribution (EFC)—the amount your family should be able to contribute toward the cost of your education. Comparing your EFC against your cost of attendance (COA), we create your financial aid package: the aid you’ll receive to attend WCU.

Typically, your financial aid package will include one or more of the following:

  • Federal loans: Low-interest loans offered by the federal government make up the largest portion of the financial aid package. Unlike private loans, most federal loans don’t have to be repaid until after graduation.
  • Grants: Students who demonstrate need may be awarded gift aid that doesn’t have to be repaid. Most grants are supplied by federal and state sources.
  • Federal Work-study: Part-time on-campus jobs provide another source of aid.
  • You might also apply for merit- and need-based scholarships, which are awarded by the university and other private, state, and national sources.
  • Are you a graduate students? Investigate other forms of funding for graduate students, including special grants, scholarships, tuition discounts and waivers, and non-Work-Study jobs.
