Biography:
Don Miller joined the faculty at Western Carolina University in 2007 to teach Music Appreciation, First-Year Seminars, and Jazz Appreciation. For thirty years, Don performed with, managed, and conducted United States Navy Bands, including 13 years as Assistant Director of Navy Bands in New Orleans, LA, Newport, RI, and with the Sixth Fleet in Naples, Italy. These experiences took him around the world, performing in Canda, Iceland, and all over Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa. In addition to conducting and playing saxophone, Don taught music theory, arranging and composition, MIDI technology, and conducting for the Navy Bands, and managed many aspects of their performances both at home and abroad.
