Circulating laptops, flash drives, mice, and headphones may be checked out at either the Circulation or Media Desks; all other items must be checked out at the Media Desk during regular operating hours.

48 Laptops

  • COMMENTS: Gateway laptops running Windows XP. Microsoft Office suite; Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, InfoPath. Checkout period of 3 hours, wireless internet access from anywhere within Hunter Library.

12 1GB flash drives

  • COMMENTS: Check out for one day. Mainly used to save work done on laptops or lab computers so it can be transferred to the user's home computer. Also very useful for downloading large items that might take a very long time on home dial-up internet.

20 Kodak Easy share C310 digital cameras 

  • Still pictures up to 4.0 megapixels
  • Can be used to take short video clips, but does not record sound.
  • 128MB memory card included can hold approximately 151 pictures at highest resolution, or about 5 minutes of video.
  • Software for Mac or PC to allow transfer of pictures from camera via USB -Software for Mac or PC to organize and perform basic editing such as cropping your photos.
  • COMMENTS: Very easy to use. At best quality can hold around 150 pictures suitable for enlarging up to poster size.

1 Olympus C-3040 ZOOM digital camera

  • Still pictures up to 3.3 megapixels -3x optical zoom
  • Can take up to 75 seconds of high quality video with sound or 300 seconds of standard quality video with sound when using a large memory card.
  • Remote control allows user to zoom in and out and take pictures. -2 64mb and 1 16mb memory cards.
  • 1 6mb card holds 6 pictures at high quality or 23 seconds of video         
  • 64mb cards hold 27 pictures at high quality or 75 seconds of video
  • Software for Mac or PC to allow transfer of pictures from camera via USB -Software for Mac or PC to organize pictures
  • Image editing Software for Mac or PC that allows basic photo editing as well as some advanced features.
  • COMMENTS: Highly customizable with full user control of shutter speed, exposure time, etc... . With the included memory cards can hold around 30 best quality photos.

  • COMMENTS: Video cameras which use MiniDV cassettes to record. At the lowest quality setting, the highest capacity MiniDV cassettes can hold up to 2 hours of video; 30 minutes at best quality setting. The cameras come with cables to allow this video to be transferred to a computer for digital editing. They also include cables for video out so that footage may be played on TVs and video projectors or recorded on many standard video recording devices such as VCRs.

  • *Can play NetLibrary audio books; CD quality versions only. Must use Windows Media Player 9 or newer to obtain license and transfer files to device.
  • COMMENTS: A basic MP3 player. Can be used to listen to our downloadable audio book collection. Please see someone in Circulation or Reserves for help in downloading and transferring files to this device. Can also encode MP3's directly from any source with a sound out/headphone jack. Can NOT be used with a Macintosh computer.

19 Digital Voice Recorders OLYMPUS VN-960PC 

  • Up to 16 hours of recording time
  • Voice activated recording mode
  • Very basic software for Windows PC's to transfer files to computer or record directly to computer.
  • No Mac support
  • COMMENTS: Simple voice recorders which use digital memory to save the sound files. These files can then be transferred to a PC.
  • Directional mikes: These mikes can be plugged into the recorders to allow better recording quality than the built in microphone.
  • Head phones

1 portable PA system -Califone Voice Saver

  • COMMENTS: Simple public address system which can be used for lectures or other situations where voice amplification is needed. Can be used on battery power or plugged in to a wall socket.

1 Apple 12" G4 Powerbook –FACULTY/STAFF CHECKOUT ONLY

  • COMMENTS: Has software which allows you to record and edit music and digital video, as well as all the full Microsoft Office Suite and wireless web/network access. Used with a digital video camera such as our Sony MiniDV cameras it is possible to film, edit, create a musical score, and burn the finished movie to DVD.

  • COMMENTS: Have Microsoft Office Suite and built in wireless for web surfing and other network access.

  • COMMENTS: Basic speakers which can be plugged into any sound/headphone out jack to provide power amplified sound for computers or personal audio devices.

  • COMMENTS: Useful when a wall screen is unavailable, can be used with our video projectors as well as our slide and overhead projectors.

  • COMMENTS: Basic sound recorders which use standard audio cassette tapes.
