The Media Desk is also located on Hunter Library’s main floor, just past the restrooms and water fountain, to the right. Please bring all media materials here for check out. Media Reserves and the A/V Equipment collection are also housed at this desk.
Media Desk Hours:
- Monday through Thursday – 8am to 11pm
- Friday – 8am to 5pm
- Saturday – CLOSED
- Sunday – 1pm to 11 pm
(these hours are reduced during university holidays, breaks and summer)
Checking Out Media Materials
Media materials (CD’s, Audio Tapes, DVD’s, and Videos) are to be brought to the Media Desk to be checked out or returned. When the Media Desk is closed, these items may checked out and returned at the Circulation desk.
A valid WCU ID Card must be presented for media materials to be checked out. Non-University borrowers may check out CD’s only, with a Library issued Borrower's Card. Other items from the Media/AV Equipment Collection are not available to Non-University borrowers.
A student may check out Media materials for a faculty member by applying for a proxy card. The faculty member assumes full responsibility for the return of the materials, or payment if the materials are lost or damaged.
CD’s, Videos, DVD’s, & Audiocassettes check out for 1 week. Overdue fines are 25 cents per day. Overdue notices are sent via the University email system.
Due dates for faculty may be altered beyond the standard checkout for media items needed for classroom instruction. The maximum extended checkout period will be one month.
Items MUST be brought back to the library when due. If no other patron needs the item at that time, the items may be renewed.
Media Reserves
Media reserves are also kept at the Media Desk. You must present the call number of the item you need to the Media Desk staff. If the item is available, you must present your WCU ID Card to check it out.
Media Reserves have a standard check out period of 4 hours and must be used in the building. At the professors discretion some items may have different check out periods on a case-by-case basis. Overdue fines are 50 cents per hour. Overdue notices are sent via the University email system.
Media Materials, including Media Reserves, may not be renewed online or by phone. They must be renewed at the Media Desk.
